Categories of Building Compliance

Pre Planning

R + D Asbestos

Refurbishment and demolition surveys are essential when upgrading, refurbishing, or demolishing part of a building. Therefore, these surveys should be conducted before any work begins to ensure safety and compliance.

Noise Impact

Noise impact assessments are typically required by a Planning Officer or the Local Authority. Specifically, they address concerns about new residential developments or changes of use in areas with high noise exposure, such as road traffic, rail, air, or commercial noise.

Air Quality

Air quality considerations are integral to Strategic Environmental Assessments. In addition, sustainability appraisals help shape effective strategies. This includes establishing a baseline, setting objectives for impact assessment, and proposing monitoring methods.

Design Stage

Plans

We provide all necessary Council-compliant plans, elevations, and sections for planning permission and permitted development applications. Consequently, these documents are crucial for meeting regulatory requirements.

SAP Calculation

Building regulations mandate that an SAP calculation and a predicted EPC be submitted for new residential dwellings before work starts. To meet this requirement, we offer comprehensive reports and guidance on necessary changes for compliance.

SBEM

The SBEM calculation assesses energy performance for commercial premises, including offices, warehouses, retail outlets, hotels, pubs, care homes, and community buildings. Moreover, we supply all BRUKL reports and advise on necessary modifications.

RHI/FIT Design Consultancy

We offer consultancy on implementing renewable technologies to take advantage of government incentives. This includes the Renewable Heat Incentive and the Feed-in Tariff for Solar PV.

Built Stage

Air Permeability

An air permeability test measures air leakage in new builds, as required by Part L of the building regulations. Consequently, this test is crucial for ensuring energy efficiency.

Part E Sound

According to Part E of the building regulations, a sound insulation test is necessary for all new dwellings and conversions with separating walls and floors. Therefore, this test ensures adequate soundproofing.

CSH

The Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) sets the national standard for sustainable design and construction of new homes. Its goal is to reduce carbon emissions and promote higher standards of sustainability. Thus, adhering to the CSH guidelines is vital for achieving these objectives.

Part G Water Calculations

Approved Document G of the Building Regulations requires new dwellings to achieve a projected water consumption of no more than 125 liters per person per day. This is calculated using The Water Efficiency Calculator for new dwellings. Hence, it is essential to meet this standard for water efficiency.

Part F Ventilation

Part F of the Building Regulations stipulates that MHVR systems (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) and intermittent extractor fans (e.g., kitchen and bathroom) must be tested for efficiency. Subsequently, test results must be submitted to building control as part of the overall compliance process.
